In this lesson, you will learn to:
- Define Sound: Explain that sound is a form of energy created by vibrations (back-and-forth movements).
- Trace Sound's Path: Understand that sound needs a medium to travel—like a solid, liquid, or gas—and cannot move through empty space (a vacuum).
- Map a Sound Wave: Identify sound as a mechanical, longitudinal wave and describe its parts: compressions (squeezed-together areas) and rarefactions (spread-out areas).
- Relate Sound's Properties:
- Connect pitch (how high or low a sound is) to the frequency of the wave.
- Connect loudness to the amplitude (height) of the wave.
